The Lebanese indiepop band Mashrou ́ Leila is probably the biggest band from the Arabic world right now. Recently their concert in Jordan got cancelled. The band was informed that they would never again be allowed to play anywhere in Jordan, probably because of their political and religious beliefs and acceptance of gender equality and sexual freedom. Hamed Sinno is the band’s lead singer and he is openly gay.
At Kulturhuset this afternoon the band will talk about how they use their personal life experience and identity to write music and how it is to be one of the most rapidly growing indiepop band in the world. This will be their first visit to Norway.
