Original Norwegian fiddle music, complex and tightly spun, adorned with baryton saxophone, viola and cittern. This is Aslak Brimi Quartet. It is led by fiddle player Brimi from Lom, who is backed up by Bjørn Kåre Odde (viola/fiddle), Svein Tore Werstad (saxophone) and Espen Wensaas (cittern/guitar). Brimi is known for collecting and performing traditional music from the Otta Valley. He has released several albums as a performer and producer, but this quartet is the first one where his own compositions, steeped in the tradition he comes from, take the center stage.
Double bill with Martin Hayes Quartet.
