During Oslo World, Riksscenen welcomes two of the leading artists from Swedish folk music.
The superduo Lena Willemark and Ale Möller have spearheaded the Swedish scene since their debut album, the iconic Nordan (ECM) from 1994. In September, the duo will finally release a new album after ten years of silence. It will be the fourth in a row, and it will be released on the Supertraditional record label, which in recent years has presented artists such as Sara Parkman, Merit Hemmingson and Valkyrien Allstars, among others. Ale and Lena will tour this fall with a handpicked star team of musicians.
Ale Möller and Lena Willemark met in the early 90s and have since received countless prestigious awards and distinctions for how they have developed and renewed Nordic folk music. Both are recipients of royal medals, the Stockholm City Honorary Award, the Government's Honorary Export Award, the Folk Alliance Lifetime Achievement Award, a place in the Swedish Music Hall of Fame to name a few. They have played together in a number of contexts where they have created music based on, but not limited to, the Swedish folk tradition (Frifot, Jul i Folkton, Enteli, etc.). The duo Nordan has been unanimously praised by both audiences and critics, and their self-titled debut album won a Grammis and was a huge success with over 60,000 records sold.
