The legendary band Los Wembler’s is coming to town during Oslo World and will perform at Goldie on October 29 at 9:30 PM. In collaboration with Vega Scene, we are screening the documentary Sonido Amazónico about the band before the concert. The film screening will be introduced with a conversation featuring members of the band.
Peruvian filmmaker Luis Chumbe is having the Norwegian premiere of his documentary Amazonian Sound, in which he explores the musical career of Los Wembler’s from Iquitos—the largest city in the Amazon and Chumbe’s own birthplace. This legendary band, founded in 1968, helped spark the Cumbia revolution in the Amazon and remains active over half a century later, despite the challenges they've faced, including the deaths of three of the original five members during the pandemic. The film takes viewers on a journey through the band’s life as musicians, while also offering a glimpse into life in the Amazon and the world’s largest isolated city.
