Ambitious project from a maverick on the Norwegian Jazz Scene.
For over 40 years, Karl Seglem has been a maverick on the Norwegian jazz scene. Performing on saxophone and buckhorn, he has been a composer, poet, producer and record label director. His body of work is varied, but centers around meetings between jazz, Norwegian folk music and beyond. Mytevegar is an almost collage-like concept album, several years in the making, involving twenty-some different musicians. It tells the story of the death of Balder from Norse mythology, but also asks poignant questions about our way of dealing with the climate crisis. It premiered at Oslo Jazz Festival in 2023, and during Oslo World, Seglem will perform it at Riksscenen with his stellar band.
