Ko Shin Moon is born at the crossroads of traditional Eastern strings and electronic music machines, building on a vast legacy of experimental soundscapes and boundary-pushing artistry.
Axel Moon formed the band in 2017, after a four-year journey in India collecting folk instruments. From their headquarters in Paris, Moon and Myriam El Moumni (synths/machines) create futuristic, hybrid melodies, mixing psychedelia with space disco and cold wave. On stage, their distinct musical universe becomes an immersive listening and dancing experience. Their live performances have thrilled audiences at multiple French and international avant-garde music festivals, and they have toured all across Europe, North-Africa, the Levant and Canada.
The band name is an homage to an exotica album by the artist Haruomi Hosono. They consciously draw on inspiration from a vast lineage of music explorers such as David Byrne, Bill Laswell, Jah Wobble, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Ilaayarajan and Patrick Cowley. But Ko Shin Moon wanders further down this experimental path. The result is something new, and strangely recognizable. Catchy, cosmopolitan dreamscapes.
