Oslo World Youth: Community and Belonging

Every year, the team behind Oslo World Youth curates a conversation program that premieres at Oslo World, before it is sent on tour to schools and libraries around Norway. For this year's conversation, Oslo World Youth has invited panelists who work in different ways with themes related to community, identity and belonging.

Through rap, literature and theater, Don Martin has put into words the life and experiences of an entire generation in the suburbs of Oslo. Ezinne Okparaebo is known as the Nordic region's fastest woman of all time and works to give young girls the opportunity to develop their potential as athletes together. Mustafa Hasan uses music to unite young people across cultures and to tell his own story.

Why is community so important? What can belonging to a place, a club or group have to do with the choices you make in life? How have belonging and community become so central to the work of the panelists? And what role can storytelling play in creating common ground?

The young adults leading Oslo World Youth will moderate the conversation at Deichman Bjørvika.
