Through their work, YLTV has brought the Nordic rap scenes closer together, generating lots of new activity. During Oslo World, they will present three artists representing the future of Nordic hip hop.

Cherie Mwangi

Presse2

Fearless, shameless, boundary pushing - Cherie Mwangi is one of the most exciting new acts on the Norwegian rap scene. She made her major label debut with the single “Handsfree” in 2021, accompanied by a video she directed and edited herself, clearly showing her intent: To put young women in the drivers seat, taking control of their own body and sexuality. She describes herself as «every good girls alter ego», and has been compared to artists such as Megan Thee Stallion and Saweetie, but with a fresh Norwegian twist. Since her debut, she has released several bangers, showcasing her rap skills in both Norwegian and English. At Oslo World, she will share the stage with Swedish rap stars Jelassi and L1NA, in what is sure to be one of the highlights of the festival.

Jelassi

Jelassi Daniela Spiroska 9

The Swedish rapper Jelassi broke through on the new Swedish hip hop scene in 2018, when she stole the show as a guest rapper on Michel Didas song «20 Lax». Later that same year she released songs like “Inte konsti”, “Keff båt” and “Powerpuffstil” before her debut EP Port 43 dropped in 2019. At this point, she was among Sweden’s hottest artists, a status confirmed by nominations for “Newcomer of the year” and “Video of the year” at the Swedish Grammy Awards in 2020, and when she received the “Artist for the future” award at P3 Gold the following year. In Norway, she is also known through her collaboration with Musti and GABIFUEGO on the song “Fuego” - but there is obviously more to come. One of Scandinavia's most promising artists will visit Oslo World this year.

L1NA

L1NA is only 21 years old, but has already been signed to "Mack Beats" and legendary Fille Danza's record label "La Vie Music". With songs like "BEKVÄM", "Trauma", "OuOu" and "No Straps" she has made a name for herself in Sweden and the banger "Vem kan ta den", with Jelassi, has become a hit in Norway as well. Her debut EP is on its way and everything indicates that it is a future star who will visit Oslo World for the very first time.

Nora Mamdu

IMG 1876

As a child, she watched MTV and wanted to be Missy Elliott's background dancer. As an adult, she became a sound designer + DJ + club curator + A&R. Chilling somewhere in between underground and mainstream, with the postmodern and afro-futuristic, as well as other urban black music genres.
