The program at Baba Bar is ready! Two singeli legends from Tanzania and three local DJs will host afterparties at Baba Bar during the festival. Free entrance every night!
Sisso & Maiko - October 30, 22:00:
Sisso & Maiko's productions epitomize the sound of singeli, distilling the vitality and struggle of life of the fringes into music which seems to reflect the idea of keeping a cool head in frenetic situations. Born in the sprawling working class neighborhoods of Tandale and Manzese, Singeli’s signature sound consists of fast paced frantic loops interlocking with each other, with influences from Zanzibar's Tarab music all the way to South African afro-house coupled with mc’s who often spit satirical lyrics about the challenges facing Tanzania’s youth, from police corruption to the complications of dating girls when you are broke.
If there is one studio it is SISSO RECORDS, where Sisso and other producers were early pioneers of the sound. At this year's Oslo World, Sisso & Maiko will demonstrate that they are still in the vanguard of Singeli – and exploratory club music worldwide.
DJ Kiki - October 30 - 22:00
DJ Kiki is an Oslo-based powerhouse behind the decks, known for bringing unstoppable energy to the dance floor. She has played at clubs and events in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
Specializing in genres such as Afrobeats, Dancehall, Amapiano, Hip-Hop, and R&B, Kiki is a versatile DJ celebrated for reading the crowd and delivering dynamic sets that keep people dancing.
DJ Spike - November 1 - 22.00:
DJ Spike, based in Oslo, is one of the most versatile Dominican DJs on the international scene. As a producer, musician, organizer, and composer, he has established himself as an open-format DJ with broad and diverse musical knowledge. He is recognized as a pioneer in blending Latin American music with African and urban rhythms in Norway, and in 2019, Radio Latin-Amerika named him the country’s best Latin DJ.
DJ T9T9T9 - November 2 - 22:00
DJ T9T9T9 is the alias of artist, director, and actor Tani Dibasey, known among other things from the Scene9 project. He is also a firecracker of a DJ, and at Baba this evening he’ll be serving up a mix of Afro-Latin funk, disco, and house.
